Scans foreign objects for threats

The scanner is a machine found at the beginning of Submachine 6: The Edge in the lobby.


The scanner prevents foreign objects from entering the defense system. Anyone wishing to enter must first deposit all they are carrying in a trash bin outside the scanner room. They are then scanned. If no items are found, they may proceed to the next room where they must enter their personal IDN.

The scanner is most likely there to make sure no contamination gets into the edge. Presumably, the system needs to preform this procedure so that no one coming from another Submachine or from outside it can bring inside anything that would harm the defense system mainframe.

The scanner was likely responsible for sending the player and the player's predecessors to the cliffs, because it verified that the player and the others were human, not sub-bots.
